The pages are filling up in my book series that highlights our internal battles with cultural identity. While working on the series, I’ve been busy publishing short stories.

Olives, Sugar, Cherries: The Roots We Carry

Currently Querying Agents

Southern Spain, 1906. Drought choked the land, and parents yearned for a new chance for their children. When the fliers appeared in town, a bold idea began as a whisper, then swelled with the promise of a faraway paradise. Hawaii! Two families joined the thousands that risked everything for a life in the sugarcane. But would it be so sweet?

A historical novel based on my grandparents’ atypical immigration from Spain to Hawaii as contract laborers, and then on to California. Sharing this fictitious story honors the 8,000+ Spaniards who risked everything in the diaspora of 1907 – 1913 to create a better life for their children.

This is the first in a planned four-book series.

Would you like your family’s story included in my novel? I’m including micro-stories of descendants, like me, whose ancestors left Spain for the Hawaiian Islands between 1907 and 1913.

Please contact me, and I’ll be in touch!
